Working in Literature lessons using Artificial Intelligence

Abstract

The article examines the problem that has arisen in Literature lessons with the advent of large language models (AI): any task involving the analysis and interpretation of a text can now be performed by a neural network instead of students. The authors propose not to prohibit, but to legalize the use of AI by finding a pedagogically justified place for it. The focus is on the genre of the educational comment, which, when working with AI, splits into three subgenres (lexico-grammatical, factual, contextual-artistic), each requiring a different degree of trust in the neural network. Using the example of analyzing the poem by D.B. Kedrin "The Architects" in the 8th grade, the authors show how the legalized use of AI (student prompts, factchecking, identifying errors and anachronisms) transforms the potential threat of cheating into a method for developing critical thinking.
