The article is dedicated to Ph.E. von Fellenberg (1771-1844). It reveals little-known facts of the biography of the outstanding Swiss teacher, characterizes his contribution to the development of pedagogical science and practice. He was the first in the history of education to successfully combine learning with productive work, and reflected his achievements in a number of works. Von Fellenberg's pedagogical legacy was reflected in the national history of pedagogy only in the essay by N.K.Krupskaya, although it's of considerable interest and is becoming relevant in the modern conditions of reforming Russian schools.References
