Abstract

The article examines professional training of school principals for the management of educational organizations in European countries; analyzes its general trends, similarities and differences (using the example of Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway, Finland, etc.). The main forms of advanced training of heads of educational institutions and their professional competencies are described. Actual problems and contradictions are identified, in particular, between managerial and leadership orientation. The results of a comparative analysis are presented, which have revealed the problems and main trends in the professional development of school principals. It is concluded that it is necessary to design educational and professional development programs taking into account the latest solutions developed in the world practice, including a focus on leadership development and the formation of basic competencies in the field of management.
