Organization of practical training for social workers at Vietnamese universities

Abstract

Social work in Vietnam is an applied science that examines issues of providing social assistance to people. Practical training of social workers is aimed at developing professional skills. Practice during training will allow future social workers to apply fundamental and specialized knowledge in their professional activities. Even during their studies, it is important that it helps students gain their first practical experience, which increases the readiness of graduates to enter the labor market immediately after graduation. Educational and production modules are used as part of the organization of practical training for social workers in Vietnam. The study identified the shortcomings of organizing practical training for social workers: firstly, the mechanisms for implementing social policy in Vietnam do not always correspond to the goals and objectives of social work from a systemic perspective; secondly, the low level of awareness among people about the activities of social services in solving their social problems; thirdly, in the context of the development of digital technologies, professional training in universities in general and social work in particular, does not keep up with the development of digital technologies, which leads to limitations in learning, including practice. It should be noted that within the framework of the study, the authors, based on theoretical analysis and their own experience, will highlight the features of the practical training of social workers at universities in Vietnam.
