Abstract

The article presents the genesis of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and their development in the field of education in the second half of the twentieth and first quarter of the 21st centuries. Two main periods of this development process are characterized: the first (late 1960s - late 2000s) – the introduction of AI through active learning and the pursuit of "tutor" adaptability; the second period (2010s – present. time) – the development of artificial assistants and new challenges to education. It is concluded that the speed of development of technical solutions in the field of AI has increased significantly, and that strengthening the capabilities of AI technologies will affect the organization of the education sector
