Student savings as an effective tool for lean university management: challenges and prospects

Abstract

The article attempts to understand the emergence in the professional pedagogical language of higher education of a new complex construction “student saving”, which is ambiguously understood in the everyday speech of teachers and managers in higher education. The fact of the increasing penetration into science in recent years of concepts, phrases and colloquialisms that arise in the everyday practice of people who do not have a professional relationship with education is stated. Various approaches to “student saving” as a relatively new pedagogical construct are shown, identified in the process of analyzing scientific works of recent years (positive, negative, integrative, based on the understanding that student saving can be a general concept in relation to more specific ones that involve student saving). The author's definition of the design is given as a complex matrix, in which the components of health conservation, protection of the rights and legitimate interests of young people, and reliance on individual educational trajectories are highlighted, allowing for the development of independent cognition and maintaining the motivation of students. The factors that ensure the effective implementation of student savings technologies in everyday educational activities are shown. The emphasis is placed on the fact that “student savings” can be considered as an effective tool for lean management of a modern university (based on and taking into account the principles of lean). The importance of the industry specifics of the university is emphasized when organizing effective work on student savings, as well as the formation of leadership qualities of future professionals through student savings technologies.
