Internationalization of higher education as a response to the challenges of the modern world

The article characterizes the internationalization of higher education as a response to the challenges of the modern world. This process is considered as an objective consequence of globalization, a resource for eliminating the national isolation of higher education systems, contributing to the progress of social and economic life. The transformation of international higher education under the influence of the SPOD−VUCA−BANI system is analyzed. The author concludes that adaptation to new sociocultural conditions, when a new paradigm of the world is built as a construction of BANI (Brittle − fragile, Anxious − anxious, Nonlinear − nonlinear, Incomprehensible − incomprehensible), will become faster and easier when students form global competencies. In the context of internationalization, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the sphere of higher education, under which the internal internationalization of universities, as well as multiculturalism in education, was developed, is considered. The reasons directly influencing the growing importance of internationalization for the university are named.References
