Abstract

The article examines the current problem of preservation and development of the Karachay-Balkarian language, which is experiencing a decline due to political, economic, social and technological factors. Based on the PEST analysis, the key challenges concerning the language community are systematized. As a methodological basis, the authors propose a step-by-step program of practical measures aimed at integrating the language into everyday life, the digital environment and family communication. Special attention is paid to the role of modern technologies, including mobile applications, social networks and digital media, which are seen as a tool to counter assimilation processes. The successful global experience in preserving minority languages (practices of Wales, Catalonia and Maori) is analyzed, and specific difficulties, such as electronic translation of agglutinative languages, are considered. The proposed action plan is practice-oriented and can be adapted for other languages of small nations.
