The Legacy of the Monetary Reform of Peter the Great

Abstract

The academic paper aims at rethinking the impact of the monetary reform of Peter the Great for this country not only in the context of building the Russian Empire, but also for fostering the socio-economic processes of its time, as well as the modern domestic monetary system. The paper examines the prerequisites and conditions of implementing the monetary reform. The author studies its elements and stages, systematizes and reconsiders the results, reveals their significance for the modern monetary system of Russia. The object of research is the monetary system of Russia at the times of Peter the Great. The subject of the research involves the processes and the stages of this monetary reform. The paper reveals the impact of the monetary reform carried out three centuries ago on modern monetary relations.
