Abstract

The article examines the process of formation and development of the institute of representation in the sphere of customs affairs, which began in the period of perestroika and continued during significant transformations in the political, economic and social spheres of life of society. The main regulatory acts related to the topic of the research are analyzed. The paper presents the researchers’ assessments of the role of this institution in the process of customs clearance. The author provides the data on the number of customs representatives (brokers) in different periods of the development of the institution under study.
