Abstract

The paper discusses the development of agriculture, which occupies a special place in the country’s economy, due primarily to the production of food and raw materials for many types of consumer goods and industrial products. The purpose of the paper is to analyze the current state of rural areas by the example of the development of the Smolensk region. Over the past quarter of a century, the Russian village has not recovered from the crisis caused by the transition to a capitalist mode of farming, which took place at an accelerated time without observing the principles and laws of the economy.
