Abstract

The paper deals with the main types of innovative cities: educational cities, creative cities, smart cities. The best world and domestic practices of formation of innovative cities are described. The conclusion that the further development of modern megacities and regional capitals will follow the trajectory of their development as innovative cities is substantiated. The industrial function that they perform today will be gradually transferred to their peripheral territories.
