Abstract

Encountered even in the Neolithic contradictions between crafts and agriculture in industrial period intensified, transformed in postindustrial society in contradiction of the city (urbanization) and village (traditional society). Lately these tensions are growing and taking threatening that one for another. Within the existing industrial paradigm, it is obvious that it is impossible to resolve. For countries having huge heterogeneous territory and small population (such as in Russia in the first place, as well as Canada and major Latin American States) this contradiction carries great challenges not only of social and economic considerations, but also ecological. There is a need of a new paradigm of coexistence of various types of farming, the essence of which is the harmonization of national and regional development, economic and cultural relations between urban and rural areas. It is necessary to take into account biosphere principle in a new social and economic paradigm. It could be represented by agrotowns as special territorial and economic, social and cultural institutions of the contemporary societies.
